In the midst of East Los Angeles it is difficult to picture
more people coming into the community since the
current population of people is filled to the brink (never mind
the traffic that goes in and out of this part of town).
On the streets of Whittier and Spence, there is a large
building currently in development. The building, standing
out amongst the houses and commercial buildings, is going
to become an apartment complex. However, this is only
one of few handful of other buildings on the stretch of Whittier
that are currently in development. Other buildings, on which
I am informed, are going to become future centers for
civil public services; however, the specific details
of what services will be provided are not confirmed.
The expansion of the population is already a
headache (let alone adding more to it). However,
the increase in public services is a good step towards
improving the people’s well-being and the community in itself.
This is a tricky step of direction where there is a plan for improvement
for the overall population, yet at the same time, there is a
potential situation where overpopulation may become a problem and
it may cause the community to become side tracked on their progress.
